Accessibility

Nummeric is designed to be usable by everyone, regardless of ability. We believe that a great calculator should work for all users, and we invest in accessibility as a core part of development — not an afterthought.

VoiceOver Support

Nummeric is fully compatible with Apple's VoiceOver screen reader across all platforms (iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and visionOS). Every interactive element includes descriptive accessibility labels and hints:

• Calculator buttons announce their function and current state
• The display reads the current expression and result
• History entries include both the expression and its result
• Graph elements describe the plotted equations
• Step solver steps are read in logical order with mathematical notation spoken clearly

Dynamic Type

Nummeric respects your system-wide text size preference. All text scales with Dynamic Type, from the calculator display to feature labels and settings. The interface adapts its layout to accommodate larger text sizes without truncation or overlap.

Reduce Motion

When "Reduce Motion" is enabled in your device's Accessibility settings, Nummeric disables all non-essential animations including transitions, parallax effects, and animated feedback. The experience remains fully functional and informative without motion.

Color and Contrast

All seven themes in Nummeric are designed with sufficient color contrast ratios for text readability. The app also supports:

• Increase Contrast — enhanced borders and stronger text contrast when enabled
• Differentiate Without Color — important states are communicated through shape and text, not color alone
• Bold Text — all interface text respects the system bold text preference

Audio Graph Trace

Nummeric's graphing calculator includes an audio trace feature that sonifies graph curves. X-position maps to stereo panning, Y-values shift timbre, and roots produce click sounds. This makes graphing accessible to visually impaired users.

Voice Input

Nummeric supports voice-driven calculations for users who find typing difficult. Speak a math expression in plain English (e.g., "twenty percent of one fifty") and Nummeric converts it to a calculation. Processing happens entirely on-device.

Switch Control & Keyboard Navigation

On Mac, Nummeric supports full keyboard navigation. All features are accessible via Tab, Arrow keys, and Return. On iOS, the app works with Switch Control and other assistive input devices.

This website is built with semantic HTML, proper heading hierarchy, sufficient color contrast, and keyboard-navigable links. Animations respect the prefers-reduced-motion media query.
